Well, the last worker left on Friday. They did a good job in my view. In addition to the façade changes they also put a skylight over the front entrance and installed a staircase from my bedroom balcony to the roof so I have easier access. Should I get around to using the roof for anything it is a done deal. The stair delivery was interesting because it was a week and a half late. It was supposed to arrive before the guys got the wall up in front so they could bring it in over the roof. Once it was up they couldn't do that so the blacksmith had to cut the railing off before he could get it through the doors, and then weld it back on once he got it in place.
The cat has come out of his hiding place. He now has a girl friend next door. They can spend hours just admiring each other from their respective balcony railings. No full contact yet. In any case Chile-Willy’s willy is all in his mind.
We have a president-elect. Sort of like the eleventh goal kick in a tiebreaker. The other guy, who said in June he would accept defeat gracefully, “…even if it was only one vote”, seems to have overstated his case.
I watched a lot of terrific tennis these last two weeks with the US Open. Agassi retired and we all shed a tear. Then the good guys won in the finals! I love it when my horses come in first. Now the NFL and College football seasons have started so we can get back to regular programming.
Meanwhile, on the Mexican futbol circuit, my Eagles are not doing so well with only two wins and a tie in there first five or six outings. They did manage a 5-1 score however in one of the matches – with 4 of the goals made by one player – close to a record. It is early days.
September is the festival month with Mexican national day coming on the 15th. The city is all decorated in red, white and green and already fireworks mark most evenings. Running of the bulls is the 23rd, which will see the usual crowd of chalangas (young, rich kids from Mexico City) here to try to get gored. I am planning to leave with a group that weekend for Tolantongo and Ixmiguilpan. We don’t get away early enough to miss the Pampeloma entirely but will be gone by Sunday. More on that little trip later.
