The Deed
The deed is done – the deed is not yet in my hands – that takes another two weeks, but I have the keys and can now regale you with some pictures, which will be posted asap. Actually the photos make the place look better than it really is. It has a quite large sunroom-cum-patio off the dining and kitchen, which I had not really noticed which makes it possible to enlarge the sad little garden even more than I had thought. The place is very secure as far as I can tell so I should be able to make it quite cozy eventually. As you can see it needs a little TLC.
I notice that the Gregster (Gregorio in Mexico) is in almost all of the pictures as, in fairness, it was his first inspection tour. In addition, he has already met his very pretty neighbor, Natasha, a French poodle with a very pretty collar. He has also made himself known to a few of the teenaged giggling girls in the near vicinity. I met my next-door neighbor as well but have yet to meet her husband who is the brother of the previous owner of my house. The people on the other side are his cousins.
I went out and bought a bed today after I was sure I had closed the deal – it will be delivered tomorrow at around six in the evening he promised. I am kicking myself for not having negotiated on the price a bit. Even the lawyer was willing to negotiate on his fees so I am sure I could have got the price down a little even though the type of store it was is not likely to have given me much off their list price. I was so anxious to secure a bed that I neglected to look like I wasn’t interested. If they don’t deliver I will be on the floor tonight as I have left the hotel.
It turns out that the little furniture and “art work” in the place does not go with the sale. That will be an interesting negotiation. There is a mesquite wood dining table and six chairs with a china cabinet to match. They want a lot for new ones and it is quite attractive in a Mexican kind of way. The “art work” they can have.
The Chev is saying it has a battery and an ABS problem?? That should be an adventure. I probably should get an oil change as well. It made it to the house from the hotel this morning – just. I secured the name of a mechanic from my neighbor and even had her call and the little guy was over in 15 minutes and is currently taking the battery out and charging it so we can get it to his garage. It is the alternator in his view.
