Kitchen - no thing of beauty but very functional Posted by Hello

Happy New Year

Nobody loves me, I haven't had an e-mail in 2 weeks! On the other hand I got a phone call from my kids which was nice. They are all threatening to decend on me in the New Year and I am really looking forward to that. I had better start on those beds soon.

I now have a serious working kitchen. It is not a thing of great beauty but it works very well. Greg is unimpressed. He was however impressed with my latest hunting a gathering exercise because it turned up a nice rug which he spends most of his day coveting.

Ran into a young woman in the park next door this morning. She had a young dog she was excercising. She asked if I was a Canadian named Don Caldwell. She had found my Visa close by which must have slipped out of my pocket when I was waking the Gregster. That was a nice New Year's present to say the least as I had begun the process of getting it all back and run up against some very un-userfriendly burocracy.

I broke down and bought a TV yesterday and got hooked up today. The basic is much more than I can watch but it is nice to have the internet conection and this is the first post from home. It will give me a chance to get caught up on some of my personal admin. I have been effectively out of touch for 3 months and while it has been fun I do not recommend it as there are some things that can not be left to whither.

Chrsitmas was touch and go with the power at my place as there is a loose connection on the street it seems. Whenever a little wind comes up it acts up. I called the electric company and they said they would send somoenone over. I am still waiting.

I took my friend Simonetta (97) to Celaya for a drive. Actually I was hunting and gathering some stuff. It took a bit longer than planned and it was a long day for her - we left at ten and didn't get back until 3 - a lot of construction on the highway. I hope she survived it. She told me about driving around Europe in the thirties with her boy firend. She had money that her father left her and was one of the few who had a car. She is interested in the progress on the house but really doesn't believe in work - she never has. We had a hamburger at MacDonalds which seemed to be the right kind of stop given her tender age. She quite liked it.

Can't believe the year is out. I will try to take in some of the local colour but have nothing big planned. I will drop over to the local sports bar and watch some football on New Years day. We have very chilly mornings but the days are bright and warm.
